The Narrative

Foxeys Hangout holds a singular place in Mornington Peninsula wine history: brothers Michael and Tony Lee planted their first vineyard at Merricks North in 1997, and the estate went on to produce the Peninsula's first fully certified biodynamic wines. More than two decades later, the commitment to biodynamic farming remains at the heart of everything Foxeys does — in the vineyard, in the winery, and in the glass. The cellar door at White Hill Road, Red Hill, is deliberately intimate. Groups are limited to six people, tastings run on a walk-in basis, and the setting blends fine wines with vineyard views in a way that feels properly unhurried. Light lunches of small shared plates are available for those who want to linger. For a deeper experience, weekend vineyard walk sessions at Morning Sun Vineyard (337 Main Creek Road, Main Ridge) run at 10:45am on Saturdays and Sundays. Priced at $50 per person, each session runs approximately one hour and includes a wine tasting and a private walk through the vines — reservations essential. Foxeys makes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as you'd expect on the Peninsula, alongside Pinot Gris and a range of expressions that reflect the biodynamic philosophy: wines of genuine vitality and site character, made without compromise. With 478 reviews averaging 4.4 stars, the cellar door is one of the most visited and well-regarded on the Peninsula. Ready to visit? Book a weekend vineyard walk through the Foxeys Hangout website or walk in to the cellar door any day between 11am and 5pm.
